Land’s End is an Anglican name for a famous rock formation which adorns many a postcard and advertising billboard for Cabo San Lucas; El Arco (the Arch) as it is known in Spanish is a much loved landmark which draws many visitors each day. El Arco is one of the most popular destinations for the many tours in Cabo San Lucas and Baja California in general as it is considered somewhat of a geographical wonder.

Where did it gets it name?

El Arco is the southernmost point of western Baja California, Mexico, and like many a landmark called “land’s end” it has been dubbed so because to look beyond it gives the impression that you are at the last point of dry land. Locals have claimed that the first sailors visited this area during the Age of Discovery and the Golden Age of Pirates, and that they called it such because they believed it was the last point of land before Antarctica!

Geographical Features

Land’s End Cabo San Lucas, technically, is the place at which the rock formation El Arco bursts from the sea at the very tip of the Baja peninsula off the Cabo San Lucas coast. As well as being very beautiful, El Arco marks the point at which the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez (otherwise known as the Gulf of California).
