When you visualize Mexico, polo is probably not the first thing to comes to mind. But after  a visit to the stunning La Patrona Polo & Equestrian Club in San Pancho, it just may be. If you are lucky to live in Mexico, make sure to check out La Patrona Polo & Equestrian Club located just north of Sayulita.  Their goal is to train the next generation of competitive men and women polo players and it’s a perfect spot for a Sunday Funday with the family.

Riding Classes and Competitions

Founded in October 2016, La Patrona Polo & Equestrian Club regularly hosts an array of equestrian events and competitions that are open to the public. Also, multiple classes are available including riding, classical dressage, jumping, vaulting combined driving that are held in each of their three meadows within the grounds. Classes can be scheduled for a individual or you can book a class in a group setting. Regardless, all classes are tailored to the specific skill level and rider ability.  At the most basic level for beginner riders, students are taught the basics of horse discipline and learn how to direct and control their horse. Beginners also learn the basics of obstacle jumping and get good practice becoming more comfortable and at ease on their horse.

More advanced riders enjoy a different level of classes that target specific disciplines including jumping, dressage or polo. Additional attention is given to advanced riders on how to maneuver a variety of obstacles courses, and they get tips on how to improve their course times. All classes typically last about one hour in length, and are available to children as young as 6 years old up to adults. Interested in scheduling a class? Beach, Jungle or Town Horseback Rides

The Equestrian Center also offers beach, jungle or town horseback rides. These excursions are exciting tours that are open to the entire public. No experience on a horse? You can take an excursion as is or choose to take a class beforehand. It will be difficult to find a more enjoyable way to enjoy the beautiful Riviera Nayarit than on a relaxing horseback ride. The magic of these amazing creatures will surely leave you with lasting memories and the views of beach, jungle and town will be hard to beat.

Sunday Brunch at the Polo Club

Other events for the whole family are regularly held are La Patrona Polo & Equestrian Club and are open to the general public. During winter and spring months, a Sunday Polo Brunch is held on most Sundays from 11am to 4pm. Attendees will be treated to a delicious brunch and mimosas as they enjoy an exciting polo match. The Polo Club is typically closed to the public during the steamy and humid summer months between June and October.
