On your next trip to Mexico’s favorite sunny beach destination of Cancun you might want to think about immersing yourself in a more cultural and intellectual pursuit than is usual. The stunning and intensely interesting spectacle offered by the Ka’Yok’ Planetarium near Cancun is a prime candidate; so why not grab your travel companions and take them to Ka’Yok’ for a day of discovery and wonder?

Cancun’s Planetarium

Ka’Yok’ Planetarium is one of the highlights in Cancun when it comes to intellectually stimulating experiences for all the family. As you might expect of such a place, the Ka’Yok’ Planetarium is full of scientific and technological wonders dedicated to understanding the cosmos; but what you might not expect are its features dedicated to environmental and cultural issues. Though the digital dome, complete with 5th generation technology, is somewhat the star of the show there are also eco-tourism workshops, and an on-site water museum to enjoy. The need for environmental work and the preservation of local archaeological sites, such as the Mayan ruins found across the area, features in the displays and shows at the venue. Ka’Yok’ Planetarium may look heavenward as a matter of course, but it can teach you plenty about the more tangible world around you too

Dedicated to the cosmos

It probably will not surprise you to know that the smooth lines and circular shapes of Ka’Yok’ center upon the cosmos and the sun; this was the inspiration from which the architect worked. As you wander around the ground you will, no doubt, notice that everything seems to work in harmony. From the moment you arrive you will feel immersed in the secrets of the natural world and universe. Though the area is lovely enough to entertain you, there is so much more on offer to keep you occupied; you could see a show in the auditorium, enjoy the intriguing space museum, or learn something new in one of the instructional centers.

We recommend that you make a visit to the breath-taking Ka’Yok’ Planetarium a must when you’re in Cancun. You can do so between 9am and 7pm Tuesday through Friday, and from 11am to 7pm over the weekends.
